Here’s your weekly update on what different members of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement* are doing.

Kenya: Millions of people have been pushed to the brink of starvation by three consecutive droughts, the effects of the 2008 post-election violence and rise in global food prices. The Red Cross has launched an Emergency Appeal.
Turkey: North-western Turkey and Istanbul have been hit by the heaviest rains in 80 years. The floods, that followed, killed at least 34 people. Nine people remain missing, roads, homes and farmland have been submerged. According to official reports, more than 35,000 people have been affected.
Sudan: More than 50,000 people whose livelihoods were shattered by floods that have swept across six states in Sudan need urgent assistance now.
Yemen: Five weeks into the renewed outbreak of hostilities in northern Yemen, the civilian population is increasingly bearing the brunt of violence.
*The Movement is made of 186 National Societies (including the British Red Cross), the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.
