Clutter for cash for Haiti

parasol2Since moving into my flat last year, I have realised what a hoarder I am. Instead of the poky wardrobe I used to have in my old place, I now boast a walk-in Sex and the City style ubercloset. It’s great and I am the envy of all my friends. However, seeing my stuff displayed so expansively has brought home just how many things I own and how badly I need a clear out.

After all, are eleven pairs of jeans (one is 10 years old) really necessary. And what about all those misguided purchases I made which I’ve never worn. So I have started a pile to take to my local Red Cross shop.

Who’d have thought that by ditching my unwanted clutter and gaining extra hanging and shelf space I could also help people in Haiti. Our initiative calling for stock to raise money specifically for our Haiti Earthquake Appeal has been a huge success,  raising more than £26,000 so far. With the initiative ending on Saturday though, time is running out.

How much of your wardrobe do you actually wear? I bet you can easily find five things you no longer use or want. Of course you’ve probably also got books, DVDs, CDs, ornaments, crockery…even a parasol perhaps to offload.

Why not donate your stuff to your local Red Cross shop by Saturday, saying you’d like the money they raise to go to our Haiti Earthquake Appeal, and it’ll be labelled accordingly.

It could be a life-saving clear out.
