This weekend I found a blog listing the ten things every girl should know how to do by the age of 25.
Being just slightly over 25 myself (okay, ‘slightly’ might be an understatement), I was not very happy to see that I can only do about half the things on the list. However, one of the most important items is something I can do – perform basic first aid.
Fortunately, I’ve never had to put those skills to use, other than bandaging up scraped knees on the playground back in my teaching days. But if something does go wrong, I’m pretty confident I’ll know what to do.
Here at the Red Cross we have loads of young volunteers who teach their peers how to do first aid. Why not find out how to become a peer educator?
One of the things I love about this list is that most of the items are about being prepared for life’s unexpected problems. Okay, maybe knowing how to use a grill isn’t all that essential, but things like changing a flat and understanding insurance are essential life skills.
What other things would you add to this list?
