Three tubs of ice cream, 85 miles and one eventful day later…!
Day two of the roadshow took us to a community centre in Harlow, Essex. The centre accommodates homeless young people and helps them find employment and training. We ran two sessions (morning and afternoon) training some of the young people living in the centre. The young people really engaged with the sessions, one person even stayed for the whole day and helped us with the group!
As well as the young people in the centre we also trained local
children in the community. Matt Clelland, one of our peer educators, managed to run an impromptu session on cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on a street corner! “I think they really enjoyed the session despite being a little nervous to begin with” (Matt)
After packing up, we drove 85 miles to Milton Keynes. Three tubs of ice cream were consumed en route and two peer educators ended up feeling quite ill…
Tomorrow we’re working with the fire & rescue service at a youth centre in Milton Keynes. Watch this space!
