Shock tactics

Katrina has sent me a link to a great road safety video made in south Wales. Its been featured in the Guardian and also on various TV channels throughout the US. The film focuses on the dangers of texting whilst driving, I should warn people its very graphic and not for the faint hearted. There’s also a great article detailing some of the thoughts behind making the film.

Watch the video on Youtube (Graphic content)

I’m involved in our Help a Mate campaign that involves teaching young roadsafetypeople how to deal with road traffic incidents. Fergus and myself have blogged before about our experiences teaching road safety and first aid to vulnerable young people. Certainly I think this film is great as it shows the importance of someone knowing what to do and taking control at the scene of an accident. Giving people the confidence even just to ring an ambulance and give them clear details about the incident could save lives.

Its worth a watch if you can stomach the shock tactics used by the film. Personally I think they are justified when you look at the disturbing statistics about road deaths in the UK, what do you think?
