Where are you in this snow?

Whether you’re on call to respond in a 4×4 ambulance to reach those in need out there in this snow, setting up rest centres for those who’s heating has packed up. Or just doing your everyday routine, trying to get home through the snow. Maybe you were one of those that didn’t make it and where forced to abandon your car at the road side?

As a red cross volunteer you never know when you could use your skills to help those in need.

I have used my training that I have undertaken by the British Red Cross throughout the past few days. By being able to provide emotional support to neighbours friends and family and getting the basic essentials of bread and milk to keep them going. This is so important, especially for the elderly community out there. Colleagues of mine have provided first aid to those that have fallen when just on their way to work.

I have witnessed so many Humanitarian acts that you ‘the public’ have been doing for others. People you don’t even know, helping those who are stuck in the snow. People with 4×4 vehicles giving strangers lifts home. I have even heard stories of people allowing them to stay in their homes until the morning.

This is what it is all about. Being a good citizen of the UK I would like to thank you if you where one of those kind, caring people that aided those in need.

Please tell us your stories below.

I’ve been out doing house calls to my patients in pain needing their Physiotherapy treatment but unable to get to me. Outside that I have cleared my drive, and the middle of the Tilehurst Road where the snow was still 2 feet high. No snow ploughs seen today
