The perfect eco-friendly bag

If you’re anything like me, you’ll have plastic carrier bags coming out of your ears. Or, at least, stuffed into all your cupboards and kitchen drawers.

I occasionally remember to take a bag or two with me to the shops to use again, but not very often. So I’m endlessly asking for new ones and telling myself “next time…”.

Eco-friendly bags have been around for a while now, but they’re often a bit slogan-y (or brown) for my taste, so I’ve resisted – until now.

Happily, I’ve found a solution to my climate (and cupboard) guilt: some bright, colourful – and very reusable – bags that one of my colleagues was showing off earlier this week.

These ones come in purple, lime, fuchsia and – my personal favourite – turquoise, which will not only look good with most of my clothes, but even match my glasses. And the best thing about them – other than their accessorising potential – is that all profits go towards the Red Cross’ work supporting people in need. What more could you ask for?

You can get the bags for the bargain price of £2.99, or £3.99 for the larger size, from the Red Cross’ online shop. All our 330 high-street charity shops are also selling them, so why not get down to your local Red Cross charity shop and grab one for yourself?

I am loving those bags! I too would go for the turquoise, or maybe the purple, I like the fuchsia too but the green one is so funky… hmmmm – I think I’ll buy them all!

I am glad I am not the only one who constantly forgets to reuse plastic bags and is consumed with the guilt of single-handedly ruining the planet – up until now that is -Finally an eco bag that’s pretty!

We have a H U G E collection of bags under the sink in the kitchen – eco ones and some non-eco ones. Apart from being useful for lining the waste bin and the like, I am not a great fan of branded ones, with the exception of going to one of the very cheap chain supermarkets with my Waitrose eco-bag lol!!
The new one you are mentioning here – does it have any BRC branding on it?? This would be an ideal chance not only to raise funds but also to raise profile and awareness. Or could they have targetted branding for specific campaigns on them?
    Just an idea…

    Hi Chris,

So that they’d appeal as widely as possible to people, the bags don’t have any British Red Cross branding, only a small label inside saying they’re used to support the charity.

And so far they’re selling really well!
