On Saturday the 14th of this month, heroes from all over the country gathered in the House of Commons.
These heroes were the nominees of the Humanitarian Citzen Awards, which were set up by the British Red Cross to recognise the achievements of young people and celebrate the contribution they make to help the lives of others.
What an amazing day it was, sitting in the House of Commons looking onto the River Thames. What better place is there to host such a special event like this?
As a judge who read through the hundreds of application forms and contributed to the final discussions of the top nominees, it was great to put a face to the stories I’d read.
Any individual or group aged under 25 years can be nominated each summer. Bookmard the award page and check back next summer so you can nominate a young hero.
