In a few hours I’ll be hopping on a plane to Kenya along with a fellow Red Cross colleague. We’re going to represent the British Red Cross at the Bi-annual International Youth Camp. Don’t worry – I’ll explain!
Every two years the Kenya Red Cross holds an international youth camp. This brings together young Red Cross volunteers from throughout Kenya as well as other National Societies. This year, the camp is especially important as Kenya hosted the International Federation’s General Assembly a few weeks ago.
I was lucky enough to be selected to go to this camp! Also travelling from the UK is Amutha. She’s the humanitarian education co-ordinator for London, which is quite handy as the theme for this year’s camp is humanitarian education and action.
Anyway, we’re both really excited to be able to take part in this opportunity. Hopefully we’ll manage to find an internet connection, if so we’ll keep you all updated with our experiences.
