Reindeer. Robins. Meerkats.
Yup, meerkats are topping the list of the Red Cross’ favourite holiday animals. It’d be hard not to love these little critters, considering they’ve raised over £10,000 to support our services in the UK and overseas.
Every holiday season we sell a special range of items in our charity shops and our online shop. This year, a meerkat mug, and a mousemat and coaster set have become our best-selling Christmas gifts. Over 3,000 have been bought so far.
In case you’re wondering why, apparently there’s been a huge increase in the public’s love of meerkats lately. Thanks to the TV programme Meerkat Manor and the debut of Aleksandr Orlov, the popular meerkat character from the comparethemarket.com TV advert, the number of people visiting meerkats in zoos has rocketed.
But if meerkats aren’t your thing, we’ve got loads of other gifts and Christmas cards. You can find some of them on our online shop, but there’s a bigger range in over 100 of our high-street shops. Find your nearest Red Cross shop, and get shopping. There’s only a month left until Christmas.
