Here’s a short quiz for you.

a. almost 70,000
b. just over 150,000
c. nearly 290,000
2. Approximately how many refugees in the UK did we give assistance to last year?
a. 5,000
b. 20,000
c. 40,000
3. Last year, around how many new tracing enquiries did we open to search worldwide for family members separated by war or natural disasters?
a. nearly 80
b. nearly 280
c. nearly 580
I won’t tell you the answers here. Instead, you have to search through our beautiful section on the difference we made in 2008. (I will give you a hint – the answers are all in the sections called ‘Providing short-term crisis care’ and ‘Helping refugees and vulnerable migrants’.)
Even a quick glance will show you that our volunteers and staff were very busy last year, stepping in to help people cope with crises across the country and around the world.
We couldn’t make such a big difference without volunteers. Ever wondered how you could give something back to your community? Why not become a Red Cross volunteer?
P.S. A massive thank you, high five, and Woo hoo! to Kristian Brace, a stellar volunteer who flexed his amazing web skills by creating The difference we made in 2008. Kris, we truly appreciate it.
