I love my food. And I had lots of great ideas for this blog and I’ve been looking forward to writing it all day.

But it’s been another crazy busy one – this morning, I wrote a news story about malnourished children in Darfur I’ve also been working on updates for our Asia Pacific Disasters Appeal, and I’ve been trying to research some stuff about how the Red Cross is helping communities be better prepared for future disasters .
So now it’s the end of the day and I still haven’t got round to talking about my top tips for all the yummy types of world food you could consider making tonight – I’m probably going to take my inspiration from Jamie Oliver and go for Mexican as I’m loving his new American Road Trip series.
But as much as I could happily wax lyrical about my favourite foods from Thai to Turkish, Greek to Georgian, English to Ethiopian – of course this isn’t really the point of World Food Day.
Food is one of the great joys of my life and it’s not that I don’t want you to enjoy your dinner tonight. I do.
But I hope that tonight you can also spare a thought for the one billion people who will be going to bed hungry. Yes one billion! That’s a sixth of humanity. Pause. Think.
Ok, it’s nearly clocking off time and I can’t be bothered to think of ten top things for you to do today – but luckily here’s one the UN World Food Programme prepared earlier!
And if you’re a budding filmmaker make sure you check out their hungerbytes competition.
